Every company is different — so every search assignment must be handled differently. However, years of experience have proved that the following five-step procedure assures success in finding and recruiting outstanding management personnel without undue delay.
1. Develop a specific and demanding position description. We start with in-depth interviews of client-company executives, exploring company culture, goals and requirements. We help our clients crystallize their expectations, as well as opportunities and responsibilities of the individual to be hired ... specific characteristics of the "ideal" candidate ... and a realistic compensation package. Careful preparation at the very beginning helps Callan Associates save client's time and expense throughout the search process.
2. Identify and contact potential candidates. Starting with an agreed-upon profile of the ideal candidate, we apply our knowledge and experience of the executive marketplace, as well as relevant information from our own database. Thus we quickly identify and contact strong potential candidates. We analyze the candidate's experience, personality, and career objectives. This is a two-sided process: screening candidates and presenting our client's position as an attractive opportunity - while maintaining complete confidentiality of our client's identity and future plans.
3. Make extensive and detailed background verification. We carefully check references of finalist candidates. We also verify such items as education, experience, and interpersonal skills. This process provides in-depth measurement of each candidate's strengths, weaknesses, and potential performance in the new position. During this process we also maintain close contact with the client and develop answers to specific questions raised by our client.
4.
Present highly-qualified candidates ... and assist in final selection. We expect to present a number of excellent candidates for each position and to counsel with our clients as they make the final selection. We are prepared to participate in client-candidate interviews if the client so desires.
5. Work closely with client and candidate in negotiating key employment and compensation arrangements. Our substantial experience in these areas enables us to help resolve differences and expedite the smooth transition of the selected candidate into the client organization. Even after client and candidate reach an agreement, we maintain close contact with the successful candidate to protect both the client and the candidate's interests. And we follow up with both parties to help assure successful completion of the recruiting process.
